Welcome to the Sunrise Side!

Carol A. Gross Airport is located in Pinconning near the shore of Lake Huron, just north of Saginaw Bay, with M-13 passing directly through (north and south), and I-75 being only three miles from the heart of the city. The Pinconning area is a small rural community founded in 1873, who’s major industry is agricultural products, but is also know for cheese.

The name, “Pinconning,” purportedly comes from a local Indian phrase, “o-pin-nic-con-ing,” which translates into English as, “potato place.” However, there is an alternate interpretation, as “little potato.” Both come from the many small, wild potatoes that grow in the region along the Saginaw Bay.

The Carl A. Gross Airport is only 3 miles west on Pinconning Road from town.
